From one Sunday afternoon to a movement.
Anti-Hackathon started with a simple bet: if you hand people the same tactics real investigators use to catch scammers, they'll spot the next one themselves. Here's how it's grown.
The Inaugural Anti-Hackathon
Nov 17, 2024 at the Walt Disney Amphitheater. Founder Christopher Salgado headlined alongside then-Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson, the Orange County Comptroller's Office, Seminole County Sheriff's Office, a retired NYPD detective, a Nigerian cyber-crime detective, a former Meta/Netflix investigator, and FBI-supplied content.
- $3,000+ in giveaways
- 501st Legion (Florida Garrison)
- Orlando Sentinel & Tampa Bay Times coverage
A planned pause
No event in 2025, for logistical reasons — the year went into rebuilding the program, widening the topic list, and lining up new partners.
- Building toward 2.0
Anti-Hackathon 2.0
April 12, 2026 — back at Lake Eola Park with former Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson and the Orange County Comptroller's Office returning, plus a live "Online Safety Game," a bigger partner footprint, and sponsors including White Castle, Mikenstein Music Productions and AARP Florida.
- $4,000+ in giveaways
- Live audience "Online Safety Game"
- Dozens of community & agency tables
